foreword byAlan B. Conley, M.Div.alconley.comOne Of The Greatest Gifts That Anyone Has Been Blessed With, Is The Gift Of LIFE. To Be Blessed With The Gift Of LIFE Is A Clear Indication That There Is Something That You Must Do With The Gift Of LIFE Before It Expires.
What Makes This Idea Challenging, Is The Fact That Our Lives Can And Will Be, Filled With Highs And Lows. Many Of Us, If We Could Have It Our Way, Would Settle For The Highs And Would Ask To Be Exempted From The Lows. If This Were Permissible, We Would Forfeit Some Of The Most Valuable Lessons That Only Our Lows Could Teach Us. You See, When Everything Is Going Well, Let Me Rephrase That. When LIFE Begins To Become Familiar, We Have A Tendency To Become Comfortable And Complacent. This Is Dangerous For Anyone Who Has Yet To Fulfill Purpose, Because The More Complacent You Become, The More You Begin To Abandon Your Purpose. This Is What I Was Doing Before I Met The Media Maven HerSELF, Ms. Ericka Porter. When I Met Ericka, I Was On The Verge Of Settling Into An Identity Cocoon Of Familiarity. I Wasn’t Comfortable, But I Was Indeed Familiar. I Almost Abandoned Who I Was At My Core. It Was Ericka Who Helped Me To Articulate This Piece Of Me That Wasn’t Hidden To Anyone Else But Me. She Helped Me To Unwrap That Cocoon And Unleash The Producer That Was Residing On The Inside Of Me. After Reading Confessions Of A Media Maven, I Now Understand Why. It Was Rudyard Kipling Who Once Said, “Of All The Liars In The World, Sometimes The Worst Are Our Own Fears.” It’s One Thing For People To Lie To You And Try To Halt Your Progress, But It Is Another For You To Lie To YourSELF. When Ericka Was Encouraging Me To Go Beyond The Surface Of My Identity, She Was Inspiring Me From A Place That Only Certain LIFE Experiences Can Foster. In Our Cocoons Of Familiarity We Think That LIFE Is Supposed To Be One Way, When In All Actuality, It Is Really Teaching Us What LIFE Is Not Supposed To Be. There Is A Purpose For Ericka’s LIFE And There Is A Purpose For Yours. I Pray This Testimony From A Media Maven Will Help You Overcome Your Fears And Break Out Of That Cocoon Of Familiarity. |
