Transparency, Triumph, and HOPE!! This book had me in awe. The strength and courage it took to be so transparent left me feeling hopeful. Ericka's family photos were beautiful and I loved the history of her grandfather. This book inspires you to keep pressing no matter how many obstacles stand in your way. Five stars for me. I want to hear and see more!! Ericka is my shero! Toyiah Marquis Amazon 5 out of 5 Stars
A pure study in courage and fearlessness. Bravo! A Must read!! This poignant memoir is a pure testimony to the strength of the mind, and unwavering belief in the power of love. The battle to love one self is the most essential goal of all goals. So many times, I have had to stop reading , and just cry. The tears come at unexpected times in various chapters, the words pouring from the page moves the spirit. I am being moved to push to higher depths, particularly to release all forms ( though insidious) of doubt, and inconsistency. it emboldens the reader. As I read, I clearly hear a strong resonant Diva voice ( Ericka's voice as I have had the honor to hear her in person) reckoning with my soul, stirring up immense drive that one buries at times. Thinking perhaps I am asking for too much, this is impossible to want. As I read, I hear "who are you not to want more, it's your destiny!Go get it love"!!! I cherish this memoir, and hold it dear to my important book collections that have undoubtedly changed my perspective on life, encouraged a depth in evaluating my own paradigms, Causing an understanding that it must change and grow with every new endeavor.. I can't put this down. I want more, I want a talk show!!!It is a must for every little girl, anybody, that ever has had the audacity to dream and see that it is okay to want more from this thing called life. Thank you , sincerely for this!!! Ifeoma Nkemdi |
